The story behind Aquatica’s True Ofuro

For over sixteen years, Aquatica has been a player in the extremely competitive business of designing, manufacturing, and selling high-quality bathtubs, bath accessories and spas. In 2013, Aquatica recognized that most bathtubs had few, if any, distinguishing characteristics. Moreover, our sales and design team recognized that there were very few, if any functional bathtubs that could fit small spaces that are becoming increasingly important for small inner-city dwellings in densely populated major cities. Consequently, Aquatica engaged talented designers from 4 countries to create a new bathtub that was distinctively different from those of Aquatica’s competitors. For nearly four years, our designers and owner worked to create a series of unique, very functional and distinctive bathtubs like no other in the marketplace. The resulting patented industrial design (protected under USPTO D825, 722 S and ETMDN 003446095-0001) was the True Ofuro series of 3 distinctive Japanese styled bathtubs.

Made for seated soaking - even 6ft plus bathers

There is nothing else quite like our True Ofuro. This unique, modern take on the traditional Japanese-style bathtub is made for seated soaking. So the design incorporates a built-in seat and the depth of the tub has been extended to 24.25” (61.5 cm) to ensure full body immersion for even 6ft (180 cm) plus bathers. The interior ergonomics of this bathtub is all directed to providing effortless comfort and support.

Built-in ergonomical headrest

The True Ofuro Japanese style bathtub features an ergonomic built-headrest for comfortable and relaxing bathing experience. Aquatica continues to invest substantial amounts in R&D, especially in material science, ergonomics research and design. On the other hand, this bathtub is still able to deliver total bathing pleasure. The surprisingly large 16.25” (41 cm) depth and interior length rising to 4ft (122 cm) at the top edge, allows full body soaking and relaxation.

The Aquatica True Ofuro Japanese style bathtub ships standard with an American Walnut wood shelve – a beautiful and very useful solid wood accessory intended for your personal hygiene items. The American Walnut step is optional and recommended for older people or those shorter than 5" to ease the process of getting in and out of the bathtub.

Modern capacitive glass keypad with hot tub like temperature adjustment function

Two modern, minimalist, LED-lit capacitive glass keypads with no moving parts provide the True Ofuro Tranquility series bathtubs with upscale look and hot tub like temperature control functionality. The 2-digit capacitive glass LCD displays the current water temperature while the two arrows allow the bather to adjust the water temperature to the desired level up to the maximum allowed level of +40C (104F).

Wide and rounded rim - designed for older bather safety and convenience

Aquatica True Ofuro features wide rim, designed to ease the process of getting in and out of the bathtub. The wide and rounded rim allows for shorter, older and physically less fit people to sit or lean safely on the bath rim while getting in and out of the Ofuro.

Underwater chromotherapy system

Just press your True Ofuro Tranquility light key and the on-board controller will deliver an array of preprogrammed mood-setting light shows that include color washes; randomly changing colors, color cross fades, and fixed colors from one show to the next. Turn the light button OFF and then ON again in 1 second or less, to go to the next light show.

Integrated water heater, circulation and chromotherapy

All the True Ofuro Tranquility system components like the water heater, circulation, Bluetooth audio system and chromotherapy systems are cleverly integrated under the Ofuro seat making the water inlet and outlet openings nearly invisible.

Ultra-quiet operation from a high-efficiency system

Due to its high-efficiency pump, the Ofuro Tranquility system is ultra-quiet. In fact, the system is so quiet that you cannot hear it working, hence its name “Tranquility”. Only flow of pleasantly warm water from the hot water outlet under the seat will indicate that the system is working as designed. When the system starts, you might notice some air bubbles and a very light swirl on the surface.

Set the temperature to 40C and the powerful heating element will react to water temperature changes and heat the water. The heating system is ultra-quiet and equipped with a safety timer, which turns off after 20 minutes which can be turned on again, if you wish.

The Energy Saving Nordic Insulation System

The Aquatica Bathtub Nordic Insulation System is an innovative bathtub insulation system. Designed for non-heater and certain heater equipped bathtub models installed in colder environments, it insulates and air seals all of the bathtub’s inner surfaces, including the bathtub bottom. This energy-saving insulation system creates an air chamber to prevent heat loss and maximizes energy efficiency. The Aquatica Bathtub Nordic Insulation System works perfectly with the Aquatica Dual Wall solid surface superstructure. It creates the best insulated, sound-proof and monolithic solid stone interior.

Easy Cleaning with NanoGuard™

Starting late October 2019, all Auatica® NeroX basins, lavatories and baths leave our factory standard with NanoGuard™ - a nanotechnology based sacrificial layer of protection. NanoGuard™ utilizes nanotechnology and tiny particles that form a very fine, thin layer completely invisible to the eye, making the surface water-repellent, resistant to UV, minor scratches, harsh chemicals, and anti-graffiti. NanoGuard™ is completely transparent and absolutely crucial for a good everyday performance and durability of black or any other deep dark color solid surface bathtubs and lavatories, especially if used in commercial applications. The practical implication to the end user is that bath salts, soap, oily fingerprints and bath oils will have a more difficult time bonding to your bathtubs surface, while upon cleaning all these contaminants can be removed with relatively little effort (damp microfiber cloth and dishwashing detergent) – a very unique major advantage for Aquatica black solid surface sanitaryware.
